The Batavia Teachers’ Association vigorously advocates for its members and the children and families of Batavia, NY. By ensuring that teachers have the resources, working conditions, compensation, and support that they need, they are better able to deliver the high-quality instruction and personal support that every student deserves and is owed by right.
The membership of the BTA is on the ground floor at every building. They are the frontline, celebrating the successes of their students, identifying the challenges facing the school, and endeavoring to find solutions that reduce barriers to doing what they do best: connecting with and teaching children at every grade level.
The BTA is a union made up of its members and has elected representatives at every building, as well as a dedicated team of officers. The representatives and officers make up the Executive Council, which guides, decides, and votes upon the direction of the union. Representatives also meet regularly with building administration to communicate and address any potential issues, as well as represent individual members through personal issues whenever needed.
