Mark Warren has served as BTA president since 2016. Prior to that he was vice-president for 5 years and a high school building representative for 3 years. During his tenure, he has guided our membership through the COVID-19 pandemic, building consolidation and realignment, as well as multiple successful contract negotiations. Through several superintendents, Mark and the BTA Executive Council have been the constant voice to defend the rights of our members and protect our hard-fought contractual language. He has also been a vocal advocate and representative for us at the local, regional, and statewide levels.

Antonio Madau – Vice President

Vice President

Antonio Madau is the BTA Vice President. Elected to the position in 2022, he works to improve the functioning of his Local and provide the greatest value and service to the membership. He has worked to negotiate Collective Bargaining and Employee Evaluation Agreements. Antonio is a NUSUT Representative Assembly Delegate, and active member of the State-wide NYSUT Health and Safety Committee. He has worked tirelessly to achieve safer working conditions for his members. Antonio Madau has been a proud Union member since 2014. During that time, he served as a Building Representative before being elected to the position of BTA Secretary in 2020. As an elementary school teacher, he continues to serve on many District committees and remains committed to improving educational outcomes for all students.

Joseph Rebisz – Negotiations Officer

Joe Rebisz has had the privilege of serving on the Executive Council for the Batavia Teachers’ Association for the last nineteen years.  During that time, he has worked as both a building representative and as the BTA Chair of Negotiations.  Over the last thirteen years he has negotiated five contracts for the BTA, while working with four different superintendents, in both formal and informal negotiating situations.  These experiences have afforded him the opportunity to work closely with four different BTA presidents, numerous building representatives, and various officers in a variety of capacities.  Over the years he has chaired, or been a contributing member of, the Extended Leave Committee, the Calendar Committee, the New Teacher Committee, the APPR Committee, The Negotiations Committee, and the Elections Committee.  

As an elementary math teacher, Joe works diligently to provide students high quality instruction, and hopes to instill a love for math, learning, and life into all of his students.  

Andrew Kiebala – Treasurer

Andrew Kiebala has been an officer in the Batavia Teachers’ Association for more than 14 years. He strives to ensure that all of the union’s business dealings are organized and accurate. He deeply values the responsible use of union funds and that the use of member dues is done mindfully and necessarily. While creating each yearly budget, he strives to keep membership dues as low as possible. In addition to his union work, Andrew is also a math teacher at Batavia High School.

Jessica Franks – Secretary

Jessica Franks has proudly served as Union Secretary since being elected in 2024. A dedicated union member since 2003, she previously represented the middle school for six years and has been a strong advocate for educators throughout her 21 years in the district. Jessica teaches math and is passionate about ensuring that all students learn and succeed. In addition to her classroom work, she has served as a grade-level leader for the past five years. She is committed to supporting and empowering all union members and ensuring their voices are heard.

John McCarthy – Grievance Officer

John began his teaching career in the fall of 1998 and became a member of the Batavia High School History Department in September 2001. He was elected to the position of BTA Building Representative at BHS in 2004 where served the membership faithfully for nine years. He was elected to the position of BTA Grievance Officer in 2013.  He also acts as the Association’s NYSUT Representative Assembly Third Delegate.

In his words,
